Viking Workshop

Today, Year 3 made their first trip of the school year. We all went to the Viking Workshop at Wakefield Museum. The children walked to Sandal Agbrigg train station and made the short journey to Wakefield Westgate. After a short walk, we were met by a Viking lady called Louise! She took us to a room and asked us what we already knew about the Vikings. She was very impressed! We split into 3 groups and started our activities. One was finding Viking settlements in Wakefield using maps. We had to locate places which ended with 'by', 'thorpe' and 'ton'. The second activity was looking at Viking artefacts such as a longboat, pots and jewellery. The third activity was to make a simple Viking game with a partner.
All of the children had a wonderful time, learning new things to help us with our topic. Their behaviour was fantastic and they were a credit to our school. Well done everybody!
